Stichting Online Notaris zag de groei van digitale bedrijfsoprichting en de bijbehorende uitdaging: hoe verificeer je identiteit op afstand op een manier die wettelijk compliant, veilig én gebruiksvriendelijk is? Dat werd Verifio.

Stichting Online Notaris witnessed the rise of digital business incorporation and the challenge that came with it: how do you verify identity remotely in a way that is legally compliant, secure and user-friendly? That became Verifio.

De uitdaging

The challenge

Notarissen hebben een wettelijke zorgplicht en onderzoeksplicht (Wwft). Bij fysieke afspraken is identificatie eenvoudig. Maar met de groei van volledig online bedrijfsoprichtingen, via partner­platforms en digitale dienst­verleners, ontbrak een erkende, privacyveilige oplossing voor KYC op afstand. De notaris moest alsnog centraal staan, maar kon niet altijd fysiek aanwezig zijn.

Notaries have a legal duty of care and investigation (AML/KYC). In-person identification is straightforward. But as fully online business incorporations grew, through partner platforms and digital service providers, a recognised, privacy-safe solution for remote KYC was missing. The notary had to remain central, but could not always be physically present.

The solution

Verifio is ontwikkeld door Stichting Online Notaris als gesloten, professionele KYC-tool. Uitsluitend toegankelijk via uitnodiging van een aangesloten notaris of partnerplatform. De app combineert NFC-paspoortscanning, biometrische gezichtsverificatie en bankverificatie, verwerkt via Entrust (voorheen Onfido), wereldwijd marktleider in identiteitsverificatie. Zo kan de notaris zijn wettelijke taak volledig op afstand vervullen, zonder in te boeten op veiligheid of compliance.

Verifio was built by Stichting Online Notaris as a closed, professional KYC tool, accessible only by invitation from a connected notary or partner platform. The app combines NFC passport scanning, biometric facial verification and bank verification, processed via Entrust (formerly Onfido), a global leader in identity verification. This allows the notary to fulfil their legal duty entirely remotely, without compromising on security or compliance.

Vanwege de aard van onze dienstverlening, het verifiëren van identiteiten voor officiële notariële akten, is Verifio niet toegankelijk voor het brede publiek. Toegang is voorbehouden aan cliënten die actief deelnemen aan een bedrijfsoprichtingstraject.

Due to the nature of our services, verifying identities for official notarial deeds, Verifio is not accessible to the general public. Access is reserved for clients actively participating in a business incorporation process.

Access by invitation

Cliënten kunnen de Verifio-omgeving alleen betreden via een beveiligde, persoonlijke uitnodiging die wordt verstrekt door hun behandelend notaris of partnerplatform. Zonder uitnodiging is er geen toegang mogelijk.

Clients can only access the Verifio environment via a secure, personal invitation issued by their notary or partner platform. Without an invitation, no access is possible.
